The Other Day

Note: 99 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of ninety-nine words.

The Other Day
~ 99 fiction ~

I like yellow and every time I asked for yellow he gave me orange.
Perhaps he didn’t know the colours names, I guessed!
Latter day I realized it wasn’t the names of colours he was confused about.
He was rather colour-blind and hardly could recognize colours exactly.

The other day I waited for the balloon-man to come early and soon I found many colourful balloons flying high in the sky.

While crossing the road, he could not see clearly and with a shove of the vehicle his sweet soul straight away left to the heaven with those colorful balloons.

55 fiction - clueless loop of love

“Opps, I was just trying!” Nandini innocently said.
Sameer’s eyes narrowed yet passed a smile.
Nandini might have unwise loop of conduct and be childish, but he also definitely wasn’t that easy-going person.
“It was looking beautiful and I could not resist trying ones” she said earnestly.
Perhaps, she was trying Sameer’s mom wedding dress.

***

Sameer shrugged.
Nandini upset turned around and walked upstairs.
“You look so beautiful in this dress” Sameer finally acclaimed softening slightly.
She stopped at thirteenth step saying, “I always wanted to wear this dress while marrying you”
Indeed, it was a childhood fantasy, lived by her youth.
And he acknowledged it as a genuine desire!

**

Nandini whispered, “What to do now?”
From her gesture she knew exactly what she wanted to.
Silent though persuaded they stood crushing behind the doors watching mom passing by corridor.
“What?" Sameer arched his eyebrow.
“Say yes” Nandini insisted playfully.
It was seventh time in one day, endearing Nandini proposed and mischievously smiling Sameer disposed!

Holding Hands - 55fiction

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.
A joy to discover something new!
A moment to rebound in a relationship!
~ This 55fiction is an attempt to recreate the overwhelming experience with a twist to the whole apprehensive look in the rapport shared.
~ The beautiful picture is captured by my very dear friend ‘Vijay Raghavan’! Thanks buddy :)

55fiction : Holding Hands

Little did she know that he loved her heartily!
That he would never hurt or hinder.

Shivering, trembling soft hand motivated to hold his hands;
He held her tender hands tight giving a slight hint,

Only brace, holding breathe,
She kept her head up,
Passion flows beyond blessing,

Her feet above the floor,
Eventually trusting!

my love my child@ Vijay Raghavan
my love my child (c) vijay raghavan

Okay this is when the whole world types in Google page to find out "how to hold a girl’s hand"...I wonder is it really that difficult. I could not think of laced fingers or curled up hands in an intimate relationship but a warm momentum of letting free followed by faith in building a bond!

For me, holding hand is just as deep and devout as competing to accept the person whole heartily.

Whether they are warm hands or cold, gentle by touch or rough by grasp, hands brings out the person’s persona fairly by choice. It is a convincing certain circumstance of a challenge to make a person feel comfortable and cared!

Perhaps greeting in a personal secured space, gears to hold hands brings a genuine lift in soul!

Cloud of Child Labour

'I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.' _ Mother Teresa
~ This post is the combo post to reach out to all groups with the intense emotions imposing with an aim only to support and suggest the best in our own little way and ability to spread the awareness regarding Child-Labour.
_Kindly read the first part of the post too, 'Child labour - Lack of Compassion'!

  • This post opens with the 55fiction by astute thinker Mahesh
  • Followed by prudent post by aesthetic poet Priya
  • Then comes the Video reflected by our very endowed artist Sam
55fiction
Many of them don't have Education in-spite of having parents...
Some of them don't have even parents....
Few of them don't have Education in-spite of having Work to do at a tender age.....
But they do have two precious things in their tiny hands....
'Future' and HOPE.....Let’s, together, help them blossom as children....
_Courtesy: MAHESH (member of NGO. LINK: http://hope4needy.blogspot.com/) HELP US!

Child-labour
Kids not playing but selling toys at traffic-light signals

We all know the existence of "Child Labor" and how it affects children or a child who wants to enjoy the freedom being a child rather growing up fast working for his/her family.

Who are the sufferers of this so called tragedy in this world?
Who makes it happen?
Its 'WE" the people who treat and ill-treat for the act of selfishness in terms of quick money making industry and also the adults/parents of that child who wants to earn with this child's help.

Have we all wondered why a child's mental ability to learn has been blocked in order to do a job?
We live in this world worrying about self more than the awareness or making them to learn the causes of children exploited. They are exploited in many ways unknown to this world.
_Freedom to breathe is the same way a child wants to live his or her childhood days. But we rather go for cheap labor, make them work at industries, construction sites, house maids and what not. When they grow up they only show more anger, despair and agony than love and compassion. Their mental stability is tested right from the day they start learning to walk and handle things.

If Poverty is the reason, can't we humans help each other to increase the family income for the adults instead of employing a child?

With Love and Compassion, we can change this labor into a rejoice with good education and social needs to the families who lack the support for a better living.
~ Child is born and let to work with pain and no joy because the world looks at them due to lack of resources including health care.
When every child is born,
Another goes to work..
When every child dies,
Another is burdened to work more.
_PRIYA

I was so touched with the immense response I got from them instantly!
And here I got introduced to one the video which was send by one of the profound artist ‘Samarjit Roy aka Sam’ followed by a profound note written by him…
Kindly see the link and read below…
LINK:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2VFOzH1Qr0

A video is of my region showing child labor.
===My father is a doctor there. Instead of practicing in town, he chose to open a chamber in the far interiors, near the river Balason, where these families live. He loves his job so much that he never misses to go there twice a day, in spite of the harsh weather or difficult terrain. He travels 8 km twice daily on bicycle for doing that.
I don't know why I'm writing all these, but I felt like letting the world know that many poor and mediocre people are doing a lot of social service and are just ignored in a country where only Cricket and Cinema thrives.

Regards,
_Samarjit Roy

Chil-Labour
Kindly have a look to the kid sitting between the new wooden bed to be delivered at home..

T The thought of writing this post came into my mind…and I felt so restless only to see that with so much having written and know about child-labour, I wasn’t able to sum up my thoughts which perhaps were somehow getting so much engrossed into the passage of losing of innocence story of so many children trapped in struggle. So instead of writing the dwelling story, I thought to reflect upon in bringing many new ideas and thoughts from my fellow blogger bond friends…
  • Giving the right justice to the underlined words and compiling the post as stimulator to spread awareness that really matters. Yes! A soul-stirring 55fiction by Mahesh as an eye-opener, thought pondering article by Priya and pricking video recommended by Sam in whole act as motivators.
I was just so touched with Sam’s 100words! I’m not personally acquaintance with his father but was so much inspired with the genuine effort he is putting in bringing in a bit which makes a difference. Sure it’s an example to follow to dream, hope and believe that we all can in our own little way do as daily routines acts of compassion!

Every little step just reflects back and ripple beckon back as waves in the water.
We tried in our way and will sure move forward with every tiny step we take!

...let's be more Compassionate towards
Children..
Because, WE believe in being solitude, and it must be maintained but solitudes together should join hands to enrich and enhance the creativity and thought..I'm so glad that I shared such post with creative people! Which again I like to believe that will happen more often in future! If you think you are interested in contributing in such joint forums for awareness, write to us to share your views over any topic!

Fiction 88
~ Captivating Sight ~

Every time I went out,
I found this strange old man on the street.
Sometimes, he would just come near me
and invoke blessings on my head
with his conjure gesture.
*
Yet occasionally,
I didn’t like him despite his gratifying behavior
because
I knew he had inexorably cashed on,
 out of his hardship.
*
For there are opportunities for him
to work much harder with other people like him
but he found conveniently profitable,
the begging.
*
It was difficult to resist his captivating sight...
..though I knew he was blind.

99 fiction
~ Renunciation ~

As he described her more the intricacy of repentance,
her feeling in the heated tears streamed down the cheeks
assuring the intense pain she felt then.
*
The sadness had turned into anger
and anger evolved into tears soon,
followed by the fear,
a fear of losing,
a fear of being lost!
*
She stood still
and turned into a silence,
gathered her strength
and forced smile with
a strange sense of satisfaction.
*
Probably now she knew where she was sailing..!
*
Her renunciation,
surprised him
in those calamitous yet calm earnest words,
“I think we should be just friends”!

Dictionary meaning of word Renunciation :
  • A declaration in which something is renounced.
  • Giving up things of your own interests in favor of the interests of others!
  • the act of forsaking
  • a written statement or declaration
  • the act or an instance of renouncing; a giving up formally or voluntarily, often at a sacrifice, of a right, claim, title, etc.
Exact Meaning of Renunciation:
* The word that has been translated as "renunciation" actually means "the determination to be free".

**Detachment in Buddhism is connected with Renunciation.

In Buddhist meaning,
Being detached does not mean that we cannot enjoy anything or enjoy being with anyone. Rather, it refers to the fact that clinging very strongly to anything or anyone causes us problems.
We become dependent on that object or person and think, "If I lose it or cannot always have it, I am going to be miserable."
Detachment means, "If I get the food I like, very nice. If I do not get it, okay. It is not the end of the world." There is no attachment or clinging to it.”

  • Indeed, no relationship can exists when clinging and craving feeling is attached with it.
  • Repentance or Ruining or Renunciation..you decide!
  • Let go _the Ego today!

Survivor Unveils - 55Fiction #07

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.
It’s an attempt to focus light on a survival story of a young girl and her hardships that turn into her power which made her much stronger finally!

~ survivor unveils ~

Stabbed at chest,
Nail marks on neck,
Eyes cold, red blue crumple,
Fear swallows, Tears elopes,
She locked herself into the room,
And called the rescue center immediately!
This is how she saved herself from the violent wild Wolf,
Crunch, the wolf was her legally companion,
A black-belt earned girl unveils in an inspiring interview!

Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence (c) Rachi Creations..
To Enlarge CLICK here
~ Sadly the domestic violence is a reality and still prevails in India and all over the world. Domestic violence is far more than the just bruises and wounds on body; it is an irreversible scar on the mind and soul.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE definition:
  • "Acts of physical violence by the husband against his wife include: pushing, shaking, throwing something at her, slapping, arm twisting, hair pulling, punching, kicking, dragging, beating, trying to choke or burn her on purpose, and threatening her or attacking her with a weapon. Acts of sexual violence by the husband include physically forcing the wife against her will to have sex or perform other sexual acts that she did not want to perform..."
  • "Acts of emotional violence by the husband against the wife include: saying or doing something to humiliate her in front of others, threatening to hurt or harm her or someone close to her, or insulting her or making her feel bad about herself."

The cycle of domestic violence is repeated across generations. Women whose mothers were beaten by their fathers are twice as likely to experience violence as women whose mothers were not beaten by their fathers: 60 percent, compared with 30 percent. (Ref. Report *)
~ Perhaps, how to deal in such adverse condition is something that is learnt from the family life-style.

Most Women Do Not Seek Help When They Are Abused.

Only one in four abused women have ever sought help to try to end the violence they have experienced.
~ Two out of three women have not only ever sought help, but have also never told anyone about the violence. (ref.Report* )

Spousal violence is lower among couples in which husbands and wives have both been to school and are equally educated (23 percent) than among couples where the husband has more education than the wife (36 percent).
~ Perhaps EDUCATION is the answer to most of the problems. To respect the humankind in the right manner must be taught in the school  and family. Any kind of violence must not be acceptable or promoted in any condition or crises.

Only one percent of married women have ever initiated violence against their husband.
~ Point to be noted!

IRONY:
Majority of Women and Men Say That a Husband Is Justified in Beating His Wife
~ More than half of women (54 percent) and men (51 percent) agree that it is justifiable for a husband to beat his wife under some circumstances. (ref. Report*)

No! not in any case man or woman, need to tolerate the violence or any kind of abuse.
Maltreatment is against human-kind! SO let’s raise voice against it.
Support the one who need help before jumping on the conclusions.
How long we will keep mum and blame the society! Just like Charity starts at home…this revolution to say NO against any cruelty or harassment must get propagated from the own family. No more blaming games or any silly excuse.

...abolishing domestic violence is an
evolution
to a revolution of TheChange..
Let you or any of your known family people not be a victim. Let’s educate and learn from the past decades generation’s mistakes which were committed under the veil of culture and tradition.

Lets woo and take a promise,I, yes! I will take a stand, no matter what!

~Stop treating the woman as the flower vase…when you like the vase you keep decorate it with flowers and keep at the corner and when you get bore you don’t care and throw to break it.

55Fiction - i call it the National Shame

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.
This 55 fiction present below is an attempt to throw some light over an element which is almost a deafening issue where a women/girl deals everyday in their daily life, defending their dignity!

|| Painting (c) Priyanka Raman ||

I was born and brought up here.
But it has never been so difficult to survive.
It’s not about the price hike,
not about climate change,
neither it’s about the religious riots
nor the political fights.
.
It is the woman disgrace,
.
You call it
eve teasing,
Perhaps, I call it
"The national shame!"

I want it to be CLEAR and LOUD to know your views on everything you know about this, about what you feel,or even about whatever you have experienced!

Until we don’t talk about it freely, we wont be able to know what’s behind the insane scene and sinning mind.

  • YES ! when we talk about it, some people will also think we are only making too much fuss about the issue.
  • Perhaps, then let’s first agree on the basic, this is definitely an issue and this is an absolute shame!

From minor unnecessary flirting, to sudden wink, to utter brushing shoulder, to deep staring the body parts, to the passing of unwanted comments

  • Just say CLEAR and LOUD about everything!

I have below mentioned few points to keep in mind and try following them to prevent molestation/ eve teasing :
  • Under any circumstances never travel in a crowded bus. Better wait for the next bus and proper seat.
  • If traveling in the local train, then prefer the ladies compartment.
  • Try to avoid cab and auto rickshaw late night. Never share your auto rickshaw with any person even if the driver insists.
  • Always be aware of the new place, keep yourself updated with some perfect info of the place if you are new to the city. This shall boost some confidence in you. And any driver or person cannot fool you around, taking advantage of your situation. Carry a map and be well read.
  • Never stand alone on the street, try to be accompanied with some other girl.
  • The moment someone tries to bug you on the street try shouting loudly to attract the crowd. The insane people trying to tease are actually very scared of being publicly acknowledged with their acts. So bring on spot light on them.
  • While walking on the road try to be at extreme side far from the road. Walk on the foot path, to avoid any nuisance or disgrace act by some cyclist or biker.
  • Carry your Mobile every time you step outside. Also keep the speed dialing number of some of your close one to take Help from.

YOU might be having some more and other guidelines which can prevent or actually help in avoiding eve teasing and molestation incidents, please do share with us in the comment section. Let's educate each other.. Be alert !

Note:
I heartily thanks Priyanka for allowing me to have this wonderful and apt painting in this post. I'm so glad to add her name too; in my talented contribution list of the blog :)

Right Here Right Now - Red Ribbon

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.
This 55 fiction present below is an effort to pay some respect, love, support and care to the people who definitely deserve it.

She chuckled,
I am living,
I want to live,
and
I might even live
longer than you.
Her lively poise reflected.
Unfortunately, her charisma is not witnessed by her parents,
she lost them in her childhood.
With care and support she evolved
as true transformation of power from pain.
Nevertheless,
she battles fiercely with AIDS.

~Red Ribbon © rachi creations..
red ribbon AIDS

~ || Right Here and Right Now - Lets Battle against AIDS ||~
RED-RIBBON is the symbol of solidarity of people living with HIV/AIDS

AIDS stands for : Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
AIDS is a medical condition where a person is diagnosed with AIDS when their immune system is too weak for him to fight off infections.
  • Difference between HIV and AIDS:

~ HIV is a virus that attacks the body's immune system - the body's defense against diseases. If left untreated, HIV eventually weakens the immune system so much that the person falls sick with infections known as opportunistic infections.
~ The most serious of these opportunistic infections are called AIDS defining illnesses. When the person becomes ill with one of the AIDS defining illnesses, she/he is said to have Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

  • Some facts about HIV infection:
  • Here are some very basic facts about HIV infection to remember
  • HIV can be passed on through infected blood, semen, vaginal fluids or breast milk.
  • The virus is transmitted by sexual contact with an infected person.
  • The virus is transmitted by using infected syringes and needles and is also transmitted through infected blood and blood products.
  • You cannot be infected with the virus through casual contact like shaking hands.
  • People suffering with any sexually transmitted disease/s are more susceptible to contract the virus.
  • Symptoms may or may not appear within 3 - 6 months or could only appear later and could take a decade or more to manifest. This is what makes management of Aids difficult, since the incubation time of symptoms vary from person to person and also depends on the general health and immune system of the person.
  • Affected people can presently not be cured, yet many treatments are available to assist the infected person's immune system.
  • Condoms are not a perfect barrier or a 100% guarantee, yet they do offer some form of protection, and it is generally held that it is best to use a condom.

  • Can HIV be cured ?
At this time, there is no cure or vaccination that can prevent or cure HIV infection, though a lot of research is being done for a vaccine. Nevertheless, timely diagnoses and treatment can keep the virus under control and the immune system healthy.
People on HIV treatment can live a healthy, active life, although they may experience side effects from the treatment.

World AIDS Day, is observed December 1 each year, not as a celebration but as a sincere dedication to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.

  • History:
World AIDS Day was first conceived in August 1987 by James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers for the Global Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. They took their idea to Dr. Jonathan Mann, Director of the Global Programme on AIDS (now known as UNAIDS). Dr. Mann liked the concept, approved it, and agreed with the recommendation that the first observance of World AIDS Day should be 1 December, 1988. In 2004, the World AIDS Campaign became an independent organization.
  • Choosing the theme:
Each year's World AIDS Day theme is chosen by the World AIDS Campaign's Global Steering Committee after extensive consultation with people, organizations and government agencies involved in the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS. For each World AIDS Day from 2005 through 2010, the theme will be "Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise.” with a yearly sub-theme.
  • AIDS 2010 Theme : Rights Here, Right Now
It emphasises protecting and promoting human rights. Also emphasises all to incorporate in this urgent demand for action promoting human rights. Rights Here, Right Now is a call for leadership, accountability and action. It also underscores this critical moment in time for the global epidemic – with the 2010 deadline that world leaders set for providing universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support on the immediate horizon, right Here, right Now!

..wear a
 Red ribbon
as a symbol
of your support for everyone  affected by HIV  and to raise awareness...

Find out facts about HIV and talk to your friends, family and colleagues about HIV- make sure they know the reality, not the myths.

Know your HIV status: get tested if you have put yourself at risk. Talk to all new sexual partners about using condoms.

Using a condom during sex is the best way to protect yourself and your partner from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

If someone tells you they are HIV positive, treat them with respect and don’t tell others without their agreement.

Understand, the HIV infected people are living with two pains simultaneously. One a pain of the disease and other of the disrespect or discrimination been done. Both are absolutely wrong gesture simply not acceptable. Try raising voice against such behaviors towards affected people. Contribute in sharing the thought and spreading the awareness about HIV/AIDS.

Pink is Pretty

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.
The 55 fiction present below is an attempt that reflects on the unconditional love, hope, faith and courage. Perhaps, let go through some fascinating fact first.

~ Roseus is a Latin word meaning "rosy" or "pink."
Pink itself is a combination of red and white.

"In Western culture, the practice of assigning pink to an individual gender began in the 1920s. From then until the 1940s, pink was considered appropriate for boys because being related to red it was the more masculine and decided color, while blue was considered appropriate for girls because it was the more delicate and dainty color, or related to the Virgin Mary.
Since the 1940s, the societal norm apparently inverted so that pink became appropriate for girls and blue appropriate for boys, a practice that has continued into the 21st century." (ref:wiki)

Pink is pretty ~ (55 Fiction)

“Why you like Pink?” I asked,
She said, “Being a child I loved wearing pink frocks.
My pink-blush was a talk of the town...”

After some giggles... I asked, “Do you still feel same?”

“Pink holds passionate moments…
But today, I adore Pink in admiration for
..being courageous survival of Breast Cancer",
my grandmother proclaimed.

BREAST cancer is the second most common cancer in Indian women. The incidence is more in urban than rural women. It is more prevalent in the higher socio-economic groups. The risk of a breast cancer is one in 30 in urban India and one in 65 in rural India.

  • 10 facts about Breast Cancer are as follows:
  1. Breast cancer risk increases as one gets older. But the fact which also cannot be ignored is that women of all ages are at risk for developing breast cancer. You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.
  2. The majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer don’t have a family history of this devastating cancer. However, if your mother, sister, or grandmother ever had breast cancer your risk is significantly increased.
  3. Risks for breast cancer include a family history, atypical hyperplasia, delaying pregnancy until after age 30 or never becoming pregnant, early menstruation (before age 12), late menopause (after age 55), current use or use in the last ten years of oral contraceptives, daily consumption of alcohol and obesity.
  4. The cause of breast cancer remains unknown and is not completely preventable. The real key to surviving breast cancer is early detection and treatment.
  5. The first sign of breast cancer usually shows up on a woman's mammogram before it can be felt or any other symptoms are present.
  6. Breastfeeding may actually decrease the risk of premenopausal breast cancer.
  7. Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer.
  8. More than 1.7 million women who have had breast cancer are still alive in the United States.
  9. It is reported that one in 22 women in India is likely to suffer from breast cancer during her lifetime.
  10. The majority of breast cancer patients had no known risk factors, other than being a female. So, early detection and treatment of the breast cancer is only possible if there is a proper awareness about this very frightening disease.

Ribbons have been used to express solidarity on the part of the wearer with the identified cause since the early to late 20th Century. Pink Ribbons (and the color pink) are used to express support for women (and men) who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

The pink and blue ribbon was designed in 1996 by Nancy Nick, President and Founder of the John W. Nick Foundation to bring awareness that "Men Get Breast Cancer Too!" However, a man's lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is about one-tenth of 1%, or one in 1,000.

Pink was chosen for the pink ribbon for breast cancer for a specific reason. The color pink is bright, vibrant, a strong, healthy color. This puts it in direct opposition to the often very debilitating and destructive nature of breast cancer. Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, self-worth and love, acceptance. Pink is also seen as a feminine color representing compassion, nurturing and love.

...talk to
your family
about the breastCancer
as to
create a knee
jerk reaction towards
thereality..
Breast cancer is a very personal disease as the breasts are a strong part of femininity and what makes a woman a woman. Choosing such a color that is a bright, healthy symbol of women was seen as a positive and striking way to increase awareness of breast cancer as well as support funding of research to fight this disease.

CORRECT ME if I’m wrong in displaying any facts mentioned in above list.

Also, it is REQUEST to all to propagate and spread the awareness about this very terrifying disease..

Don’t feel shy in breaking the ice over this issue in the family, be it your sister, your mother or even your grandmother...Talk..to create a the knee jerk reaction towads the reality!

an urge to fiction

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.

It’s an attempt to focus light on the various dimensions of sheer neglects and mind set of people, leading to the pitiable predicament prevailing in the society.

unnatural born Mother

"She looked gloomy and dismayed.
With three kids she stepped in the crowd.

She had baby girl a year old in her arms,
Second was a four years old young boy and
Other was around five years old girl.

Remarkably, her own age was seven years old.

She begged with her siblings in the train. "

Girl childhood

...40% of Indian population is consist of
children(below 18years old),
out of this 25%are engaged as child labourer,
Surprisingly,
nearly 60%
of thechild workers areGirl Child..
You will find many such under age girls and children on the road, in the crowded trains and swarming market places begging for her family. This is just an extension to their struggle and dreadful life.
A humble age when she cannot take care of herself, she is asked to take care of her siblings too. Where she is supposed to hold a pen in her hand and go to school to study, she is asked to hold her sibling in arms and go to train and beg.

Is this a justice to her and her childhood?
Is it fair to consider a girl child as a lesser child?

I deserved it - 55 fiction

Note: 55 Fictions is precise form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.
Handle with care and smile: I still maintain believing that I hardly have any peculiar understanding for the 55fiction; however I'm trying to learn with each experiment. And so far the learning journey has been really fun. So before you head on to read this 55fiction, let me remind you again that this is my humble second attempt .

  • I deserved it!

    "It's been very long-lingering-lonely-feeling. I am distress-despair-disappointed and dishearten.

It feels like a dry-desert.
But definitely I owe little dew-droplets.

I took some breath and strength to change my regular self.

So I decided to come to the beach,

And enjoy

my damn-dessert here,

..the chocolate fantasy!"

I deserved the dessert @ Rachi creations

P.S. the description :

  • DESERT: A desert is a place with 10 inches or 25cm of rain or less a year. Deserts cover about one seventh of the earth's surface. Or a place a landscape or region that receives very little precipitation.
  • DESSERT: Dessert is a course that typically comes at the end of a meal, usually consisting of sweet food but sometimes of a strongly-flavored.
  • DESERT in philosophy: Desert is the condition of being deserving of something, whether good or bad. It is related to justice, revenge, blame, punishment and many topics central to moral philosophy.

 Note:
  • Special thanks to Mahesh, who have been constantly reminding me to post my second fiction, nevertheless I’m very nervous to know his reaction to my attempt.
  • The drawing is made by thyself, Rachi Creations.. See guys, I kept my promise as made in my first fiction that I shall add a reflecting drawing with every fiction I write.

first attempt - 55 fiction

I have been reading the 55Fiction for a long time and have always enjoyed it. But because I have a tendency of writing long paragraphs…I thought 55fiction was not my cup of tea, until I firmly decided last night to at least ones attempt before completely declining over.

Fifty-five fictions is limited, precise and exciting to see the dramatic turn over to the whole story-line.
So here’s beginning with a little sneak-peep into the history and origin of 55fiction.

ORIGIN & HISTORY: The origin of 55 Fiction can be traced to a short story writing contest organized by New Times, an independent alternative weekly in San Luis Obispo, California, in 1987. This idea was proposed by New Times founder and publisher Steve Moss.

Steve Moss, whose full name was Stephen Donnellan Moss, was born in Riverside, Calif September 18, 1948. He died of complications of epilepsy in his garden in San Luis Obispo on April 24, 2005. He was 56. The 55 Fiction copyright inured to Moss' family.

The Steve Moss Memorial Scholarship in Journalism was founded by his family and friends to support journalism students at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. Its endowment is managed by the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation.

The 55 Fiction Competition has been continuously organized by New Times ever since it was introduced in 1987. The competition is an annual event with open participation.
DEFINE 55FICTION: 55 Fiction is a form of micro-fiction that refers to the works of fiction limited to a maximum of fifty-five words.

CRITERIA: There is a definite criterion for the 55fiction and hence I have my own too:
  1. Fifty-five words. or less (A non-negotiable rule).
  2. A setting,
  3. One or more characters,
  4. Some conflict, and A resolution. (Not limited to moral of the story)
  5. The title of the story is not part of the overall word count, but it still can’t exceed seven words.
  6. Shall try to add a picture related to the 55fiction, which shall be my rachi creation, an art that works as a complementary to a story-line.

TOOL to count the words: http://www.wordcounttool.com/
My FIRST ATTEMPT to 55fiction:
  • Eyes on ME!
I stood leaning the wall all drenched in the rain.
Everyone’s eye was on me.
I could notice the rolling eyes inspecting so keenly my body-hugging black dress.
Swiftly, someone just came and took me in his arms, not bothering about my wet clothes.

Conversely, why should one care,

I was just..

...an Umbrella!

Do let me know your views on my very first attempt to 55fiction. Your words shall be a great help. Thank you for being persistent and going through this post!

Note :

  • Special thanks to Lena and Priya for their kind words, support and inspiration, I get all the time!!
  • Also not forgetting to thanks Late Steve Moss who after all invented this chronically narrative way of writing short story.
